Atmos Solutions, Inc. was proud to support the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) in the multi-phase renewal of the historic Cannon House Office Building—the oldest congressional office building on Capitol Hill, originally completed in 1908. The comprehensive modernization effort focused on upgrading critical infrastructure while preserving the building’s distinguished Beaux-Arts architectural character.
As part of the project team, Atmos delivered essential environmental and health and safety (EHS) services to help address deteriorating systems, structural deficiencies, and hazardous materials. Our specialists conducted extensive environmental site assessments and implemented rigorous safety measures to manage risks, including the identification and mitigation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other potential environmental hazards.
Atmos developed and enforced project-specific safety documentation, including OSHA- and USACE EM 385-1-1–compliant Accident Prevention Plans and Site Safety and Health Plans. Our scope also included industrial hygiene evaluations, indoor air quality monitoring, and implementation of risk-reduction strategies to safeguard both the workforce and building occupants throughout the renovation process.
By aligning our technical expertise with the project’s preservation goals, Atmos Solutions helped ensure the safe transformation of this historic facility into a modern, energy-efficient, and secure workspace—preserving its legacy while enhancing its performance for generations to come
